Peace of mind

Nothing is more conducive to peace of mind than not having any opinions at all.
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg

I agree with this statement, utterly and completely. :-D

To my personal experience, it is not an easy life not to have an opinion on things. Either you are regarded as ignorant or apathatic. What if one "just" wants peace of mind??

"Is sloppiness in speech caused by ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care."
William Safire

  1. I like those quotes!

It is rare in this day in age to meet someone who does not have an opinion or wants to verbalize it.

  2. Yeah, and especially if you keep a blog, which is supposed to be full of opinions and taking of views. ;-)

In fact, I like very much the Japanese concept of Beginner’s mind: “Where the mind of the beginner is empty, free of the habits of the expert, ready to accept, to doubt, and open to all the possibilities.”

And here’s another favourite quote of mine:

“In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.”
    – Shunryo Suzuki-Roshi
